Style Frames, Spot Narrative

'Hypnosis' is a 5 minute spot for SCI Channel which visually shows how science in our daily lives can work towards a positive impact in the future. The narrative follows the journey of our main character facing her greatest fears, claustrophobia, taking the form of a nightmarish creature. The phobia grows and starts to consume the space around her. As all hope seems to be lost, it is revealed that she is undergoing hypnotherapy which is being utilized as a form of treatment to help her to overcome her greatest obstacle.

When I was a child, I had a traumatic experience where I was trapped in an elevator alone for a hour. That experience still remains as a very vivid memory and it gave me claustrophobia. This memory made me curious about the current advancements of scientific therapy in treating mental health and I found out that hypnosis is a form of therapy that can treat anxiety, phobias, bad habits, etc. This research became the basis of our approach and my teammate and I created each scene in a particular way to convey and evoke an emotional response as a little girl would go through her therapy session.
